Questions

What is Blechbuster Video?

We are a corporation of goblins using YouTube to present obscure movies that we have digitized from VHS tapes.

If it's free to watch, why would I buy anything?

Because you believe in supporting something weird, that provides weird things for other weirdos like you.  You're a cool ghoul that likes stickers and trash!

Why VHS?

We believe VHS evokes a certain type of nostalgia that we find exciting.  FBI Warnings, trailers, static, tracking adjustments, even our thumbnails are a part of an experience that died out long ago and we kind of miss.

Can I make a request?

No.  Copyright restrictions and the general scarcity of VHS make requests too difficult to fill.

Don't you make enough money from ads?

We are a non-monetized channel.  Because we deal in movies, the rights to the visuals and the music belong to someone else.  YouTube has an algorithm set up to detect this, automatically runs ads on the content, and pays those copyright holders.  We receive no money from YouTube.

Can I advertise with you?

Absolutely!  We occasionally embed video ads for our contributors with businesses at the top of a tape.  Our pricing works on a sliding scale.  Meaning if you're a small business, we'll work with you to find an agreeable arrangement, and if you're a giant corporation we'll bleed as much out of you as we possibly can.

Where is my money going?

Any money spent in this shop goes straight back into making a great channel.  Meaning we will only be spending on more tapes to digitize, and necessary equipment repairs.  Our highfalutin dreams of space travel will just have to wait.

What are the special instructions that come with membership?

Special instructions are given to members only.

Can I join the Blechbuster team?

Maybe.  This thing is a lot of work and doesn't make much in the way of money.  If gratitude and the weird clout that comes with saying you work for an online video store are payment enough, shoot us a message and we'll talk about it.

I heard you're based in Canada.  Is that true?

Right on, eh.
